Since its inception, the Heart Center has consistently achieved excellent outcomes in terms of fewer complications, lower mortality rates and fewer readmissions after surgery than most hospitals, including those of other tertiary centers in the region (based on data from the Society of Thoracic Surgery National Database).

The cardiac care program at Suburban Hospital provides a range of cardiac, thoracic, and vascular services, including valve repair and replacement. Dr. Keith Horvath, chief of cardiothoracic surgery, has performed close to 3,500 valve surgeries.
