Suburban Hospital provides an array of comprehensive Behavioral Health Services for individuals with emotional problems, mental illness and addictive diseases, as well as some services designed to foster mental health. Our philosophy of treatment emphasizes respect for patient and family, with a goal to provide care at the least restrictive level possible, and within the local community.

Our primary service area is lower Montgomery County, Maryland; however, we are recognized within the greater metropolitan DC area as a regional provider of mental health and addiction services. All behavioral programs are licensed by the State of Maryland and are accredited by The Joint Commission. Located at convenient sites in Montgomery County, Suburban Hospital's behavioral programs offer a broad range of services for adolescents and adults.

Crisis Intervention

Suburban Hospital's Crisis Intervention Service (CIS) staff, comprising licensed clinical social workers, provides on-site support to our Emergency Department to assist in evaluating clients who present with behavioral issues. These include alcohol/substance abuse problems.

Our CIS staff can also provide emergency back-up coverage for behavioral organizations and community therapists who may not be immediately available and need their clients seen in an emergency setting. Our CIS staff coordinates with the referring agency/person to ensure continuity of care. For these situations, our CIS staff is available by calling 301.896.3027.
