Expanding Access to quality
care is a responsibility that Suburban Hospital takes
very seriously, especially as overwhelming reform
and reimbursement pressures continue to threaten
a very fragile health care environment. As part of
our commitment to caring for the community,
Suburban Hospital dedicated more than $18.5
million to outreach services during 2010, including
conducting nearly 2,700 health and wellness
programs in partnership with a wide range of
dedicated community-based organizations. Building
on the successful volunteer-driven MobileMed/NIH
Heart Clinic model, Suburban also opened a
companion Endocrine Clinic to serve uninsured
populations with diabetes. Likewise, we met the
need for broader access to primary and specialty
care physicians by expanding the relationship with
Johns Hopkins Community Physicians (JHCP)
through a new office location in North Bethesda.
