Bethesda, Md., (July 20, 2011) - Based on a finding that the one block section of Lincoln Street from Old Georgetown Road to Grant Street is no longer necessary for present public use or anticipated public use in the foreseeable future, the nine members of the  Montgomery County Council unanimously approved the abandonment proposed by Suburban Hospital. This is an important milestone in ensuring that Suburban Hospital can build the facilities necessary to serve our patients and  community in the 21st century.

The abandonment will become effective when the special exception process for the entire project has concluded with no further appeals  by the HTCA neighborhood and when the complete record plat for the proposed Hospital preliminary plan is approved by the Planning Board.  For detailed information on the project, visit www.suburbanhospital2020.org.
