Family Presence and Visiting

Suburban Hospital recognizes the importance of family and visitors in our patients’ recovery. We encourage family and friends to provide support to patients during their hospital stay. Suburban Hospital also recognizes that patients require a restful and quiet environment during their hospitalization, and our family and visitor presence policy supports family and friends’ involvement while promoting a healing, restful patient environment.

In order to help you provide the best care for our patients, we ask that you:
• Do not come to the hospital if you feel ill.
• Always wash your hands well before entering any patient room.
• Refrain from bringing children under the age of 12 to visit because young children can be a source of infection to hospitalized patients.

Visitors are guests of the patient or family. Visitors have restricted times during which they may see the patient. Visitor hours at Suburban Hospital are 8:00 am to 9:30 pm.

We ask that the number of people in any patient room be limited to two at a time. Larger numbers of visitors should rotate turns visiting the patient room. At times family and visitors may be asked to step out of a room to provide patient privacy.

One family member or support person may be present in the hospital after regular visiting hours. That person will be issued a temporary identification badge by the Security Office stationed at the Emergency Department entry desk. Entrances to the hospital are limited after hours.
