Pastoral Care

Suburban Hospital's Pastoral Care staff welcomes you and strives to provide spiritual support for you and your family during your stay with us. Usually within 24 hours of admission, a Pastoral Care Visitor will call upon new patients to welcome them, confirm their religious preference in our database, and inquire if they would like us to contact their local clergy.

The hospital's Chaplain is available for pastoral care and maintains an on-call schedule. Additionally, our volunteer rabbi, priest and deacon make regular rounds. Friday night candles are available for Jewish patients through the sisterhood of Ohr Kodesh. The first floor Meditation Room is always open for prayer and reflection and contains religious literature, various scriptural resources, and an Islamic prayer rug. The chaplain can be reached by dialing x3178 from inside the hospital or calling 301.896.3178 from outside the hosital.
