Important Visitor Information

Effective October 12, 2009, until further notice, Suburban Hospital's visitor and patient policy during the flu season is as follows:

Visitor/Patients | Stop! Please help us limit the spread of the flu—

  • You MUST wear a mask if you are a patient and you have any symptoms of flu, runny nose, cough, and a fever more than 100°.
  • If you are a visitor and do not feel well, do not enter the hospital.
  • Children 12 years old and under may not visit the hospital, except to accompany a family member to the Emergency Department.

Emergency Department | Stop! If you have typical flu symptoms, runny nose, cough, a fever more than 100°—

  • You must wear a mask in the Emergency Department.
  • Suburban Hospital will not routinely test you for the flu.
  • Suburban Hospital is not routinely giving patients anti-viral medications, such as Tamiflu®.
