Joint Replacement Center

Joint Pain Seminar

The Suburban Hospital Joint Replacement Center features an innovative model of care that emphasizes wellness and personal empowerment for joint replacement surgery patients. Patients are considered “sore,” not “sick,” and are encouraged to be out of bed and wearing “street” clothes by the morning after surgery. Our clinical program is based on proven best practices and features a focused team of experienced surgeons, nurses and rehabilitation specialists.

Recovery is motivated through enhanced patient/family education and personal coaches and group activities that include physical therapy and communal meals. From a clinical perspective, patients benefit from standardized clinical orders and routines designed to improve efficiency; a dedicated joint replacement nurse manager to assist patients and physicians; and specially trained and focused clinical staff.

Patients in the new Suburban Hospital Joint Replacement Center are also treated to many amenities, including all private rooms, a unit-based rehabilitation gym, a farewell celebratory dinner, and a complimentary souvenir to remind them of their life-enhancing experience. Patient Testimonials

After a year of intense pain and barely being able to walk, James McGee, the U.S. Ambassador to Madagascar, sought relief from his knee pain from Dr. William Sadlack, an orthopedic surgeon with more than 25 years of experience. Since undergoing knee replacement surgery, Ambassador McGee is back to exercising, walking without pain, and playing golf.

“I am very pleased with the result. I had a top-notch surgeon, an excellent treatment plan, and a caring environment at Suburban Hospital’s Joint Center in which to recover. It’s been a great experience!”
Ambassador James McGee (at right, U.S. Ambassador to Madagascar James McGee is once again enjoying an active life, thanks to Dr. William Sadlack and his successful knee replacement surgery.)

"Everything about my experience has been very smooth. The structure of this program gives you control and maintains your dignity, and I appreciate that. From the private rooms, to the self-controlled pain management system, the way you order your meals, the professionalism of the staff, the rehab and educational opportunities... I could go down the list."
John Leroy Dill
Germantown, Maryland

"Working through the process with other patients is encouraging.  Seeing what other people can do helps you to gauge your own progress - and I know that I am doing well because I am getting ready to go home!"
