Shared decision making is a unique partnership between leadership and bedside nursing staff. A shared decision making model provides a structure through which nurses can manage their practice with a higher level of professional autonomy with the support of nursing leadership.
At Suburban Hospital, there are four Shared Decision Making Councils designed to advance nursing practice and improve patient outcomes:

The Quality, Safety and Service Council is established to actively involve nurses in initiatives that will improve quality, safety, and service to our patients. Council members will be involved in data collection, analysis and improvement efforts related to patient care such as:
