Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley has designated September 19 – 25 as Fall Prevention Awareness Week in the State of Maryland and the entire month of September is observed as National Fall Prevention Month. Suburban Hospital is hosting a number of seminars and special events during Fall Prevention Month with the goal of spreading awareness and educating the public about preventing accidental falls, which is the leading cause of injuries in seniors over the age of 65.
Suburban has partnered with several Montgomery County organizations for Fall Prevention Month and a brochure listing participating organizations and providing local resources for fall prevention can be found at www.montgomerycountymd.gov/senior.
