Revolutionary Robotic Surgery Exhibit

(Bethesda, MD, January 15, 2009)  Suburban Hospital will sponsor a hands-on exhibit of the new da Vinci S™ HD robotic surgical system at Westfield Montgomery on Saturday, January 24 from noon to 6 pm.  The event will take place in the mall’s Center Court in the lower level Nordstrom wing.

Participants will have the opportunity to meet surgeons and operating room staff, watch a video demonstration, and “get behind the controls” of this revolutionary, high-definition tool that is advancing minimally invasive surgery at Suburban Hospital.  Blood pressure screenings and health education will also be available.

Guided by a specially trained surgeon, the da Vinci S™ HD robotic surgical system offers unsurpassed precision, control, and effectiveness for complex urological, gynecological, cardiothoracic, and vascular procedures.  With 3D imagery, 10x magnification, and specialized instrumentation, this advanced technology allows surgeons to operate beyond the capabilities of the human hand.  Benefits to the patient include smaller incisions and minimal scarring, less pain and blood loss, lower risk of infection, and a shorter hospital stay and faster recovery.
