“I am very proud of our skilled, dedicated and caring ultrasonographers at Suburban,” said Lara Eisenberg, M.D., chairman of Suburban Hospital’s Department of Radiology. “This is our third consecutive ACR accreditation, which affirms our department’s expertise in general and vascular ultrasound.”
The ACR gold seal of accreditation represents the highest level of image quality and patient safety. It is awarded only to facilities meeting ACR Practice Guidelines and Technical Standards, following a peer-review evaluation by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. Image quality, personnel qualifications, adequacy of facility equipment, quality control procedures, and quality assurance programs are assessed. The findings are reported to the ACR Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report they can use for continuous practice improvement.
Suburban Hospital's Radiology Department provides a complete range of diagnostic and interventional services including general x-rays, ultrasound, CT scans, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), angiography and coronary CT angiography. The facility is equipped with the most advanced imaging equipment and technology available including fully digital images through the use of a Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS), giving physicians the ability to review images from anywhere via the Internet with secured access. The department also houses the NIH-Suburban MRI Center, a joint program of Suburban Hospital and the National Institutes of Health, designed to study the use of MRI in diagnosing heart attack and stroke.
