Guide to Procedure Scheduling
The Guide to Procedure Scheduling provides physicians and their office staff an easy-to-use index for many of the outpatient medical procedures available at Suburban Hospital and associated outpatient centers. The Guide includes direct access phone numbers for 
scheduling procedures as well as hours of operation and specific locations.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) related to procedure scheduling are also included in this document for your information. Referrals to the National Capital Sleep Center at Suburban Hospital
The National Capital Sleep Center at Suburban Hospital, established in 1982, is dedicated to improving the quality of life for people with sleep/wake disorders. The Center is a fully equipped diagnostic and treatment facility specifically designed to meet the needs of patients suffering from sleep-related disorders. Primary care physicians or specialists can refer patients to the National Capital Sleep Center at Suburban Hospital. Patients referred for an evaluation will receive a call from the Sleep Center staff to explain details about the testing procedures. In addition, all billing and administrative issues or questions will be answered before patients are tested at the Center. Most insurance contracts and HMOs are accepted.
We recommend that patients review the need for a sleep study with their primary care physician. Click here Sleep Study Prescription Referral Form to print an adult or child prescription form. With a completed referral form, patients can call the National Capital Sleep Center at Suburban Hospital at 301.896.3039 to schedule the sleep study and mail or fax the form.

Suburban Hospital has taken a number of steps to ensure admission of skilled physicians to our Medical Staff. Please note these requirements:
Except in rare circumstances, board-certification is required within five years of completion of training. Individuals who have failed board-certification examinations, or other exams such as FLEX or ECFMG, will be asked to discuss this.

Due consideration will be given to medical education and training of all candidates. Verification of training will be required, reviewed, and used to evaluate your post graduate experience.

In reviewing your application, consideration will be given to not only your clinical skills but also your ability to work well with physicians, nurses, and others in a cooperative, collegial atmosphere. This is essential to the delivery of high quality health care.

There will be a detailed interview to help us to learn more about you and enable you to learn more about Suburban Hospital, our facilities and services, and our expectations of those who practice here.

If your application is approved, your initial appointment will be to the Provisional staff for at least one year. During that time, you will be expected to admit and treat at least six patients at the Hospital in order to permit us to thoroughly evaluate your clinical competence and ability to work well with others. You are encouraged to attend Department/Subsection meetings. Failure to have sufficient activity will result in your medical staff membership and clinical privileges remaining at the Provisional status.

During your Provisional appointment, your clinical practices will be carefully monitored. For medical specialties, that review will include a review of your charts. For surgical specialties, or those seeking privileges for invasive procedures, your procedural skills and judgment will be reviewed.
