Healthy Montgomery

Healthy Montgomery is comprehensive data repository that shares information about our community’s health. Funding and in-kind support for Healthy Montgomery is made possible by the five Montgomery County hospitals, Montgomery County Maryland and the Montgomery County Collaboration Council.

In creating Healthy Montgomery, a Community Health Improvement Process was launched in June 2009.The process included multiple assessments, planning, and evaluation reviews linked to a multitude of sectors, populations, and communities within Montgomery County.  In its Priority-Setting Process in October 2011, the Steering Committee identified six priority areas:

  • Behavioral Health;
  • Cancers;
  • Cardiovascular Health;
  • Diabetes;
  • Maternal and Infant Health;
  • Obesity

In addition to selecting these six broad priorities for action, the HMSC selected three overarching themes (lenses) that Healthy Montgomery should address in the health and well-being action plans for each of the six priority areas. The themes are:

  • Lack of access;
  • Health inequities; and
  • Unhealthy behaviors
