Preparing for Your Visit

In order to provide the best care and avoid delays in your services, please note the following requirements as you prepare for your visit.

  • Blood Transfusion: We require that a Suburban Hospital "type and cross" blood sample be drawn within 72 hours prior to blood product administration. Plan on spending between 2-3 hours for each unit of blood needed.

  • First time appointments: A reservation is required at least 24 hours in advance of your desired appointment time and must be made by your doctor's office directly with the Iinfusion Center staff. Physician orders, health and physical forms, and any pertinent lab results must be received before treatment is administered. We will accept treatment orders via fax at 301.214.2062.

  • All managed-care patients must have pre-treatment approval from their insurance provider at least 24 hours before their appointment.

  • On arrival for your treatment, you will be registered at the front desk and have an identification bracelet placed on your arm. Please have all insurance information handy. If you have any questions prior to appointment, please call 301.896.3856.

  • Please be sure to arrive on time. Notify the Infusion Center if you are running late. Patients who are running late may be rescheduled depending on the length of their treatment.

Family members may stay with you during your treatment. The infusion nurse will report any pertinent results directly to your physician, who will then discuss them with designated family members.
