The Johns Hopkins Medicine Department of Radiation Oncology at the Johns Hopkins Health Care and Surgery Center is the product of years of experience and planning. When the Center was conceptualized, we envisioned that it would offer state-of-the-art technology in a pleasant environment and that it would be staffed with competent and caring individuals. We felt it would be optimal to combine academic-quality medicine in a personal community setting. We are proud and excited that our vision has been realized.

Our Radiation Oncology Center now houses a fully integrated treatment planning and delivery system that is enhanced by our direct linkage with GCM-Suburban Imaging within the same building. Two new linear accelerators are equipped with dynamic multileaf collimators that enable us to deliver not only highly conformal three-dimensional radiotherapy, but also intensity modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), representing a new frontier in cancer treatment. We are pleased to be the first community radiation oncology center in Montgomery County to be routinely treating patients with IMRT.

We take great pride in our facility and also in our outstanding staff. The members of our department are highly trained and technically proficient. Equally important, our staff is deeply committed to responding to the needs of our patients with great compassion. In addition, our physicians are well known to the greater Washington medical community. Our emphasis is on working closely with referring physicians to provide coordinated care for each patient. We also work closely with area academic centers and the National Cancer Institute to extend treatment opportunities to our patients that otherwise might not be available. Additionally, we participate in national clinical trials through Suburban Hospital's comprehensive research program.

Our goal is to set the standard for excellence in community-based radiation oncology in the greater Washington, DC region. We look forward to serving you and your patients.

Sincerely,
Susan F. Stinson, M.D. and Stephen C. Greco, M.D.
